Johan Zaathof, the coordinator of the German government for inter-public cooperation with Russia, Central Asia and the Eastern Partnership, urged to think over how to cooperate with Russia in the next 10-20 years.
“It’s important for me to open up long-term perspectives. Much more important is how we will cooperate with Russia in the next 10-20 years”, – the politician said.
“Here we have a responsibility, including a historical one, as well as in relation to future generations”, – Zaathof said.
This responsibility, he said, is that one should “work with Russia as peacefully as possible, together and on the basis of common values”.
At the same time, he urged not to link the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project with the situation around Alexei Navalny.

“One is not directly related to the other”, – Zaathof said.
