Italy’s president will start consultations to end government crisis on 27 January

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has resigned

Italian President Sergio Mattarella on January 27 will start political consultations on a way out of the government crisis following the resignation of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte. The press office of the presidential Quirinale Palace announced this on Tuesday.

“President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella received Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, who has resigned as head of government. Having entrusted him with his current responsibilities, Mattarella will start consultations on Wednesday with representatives of all political parties”, –  the statement said.
