Reuters: Biden may renegotiate Trump’s agreement with the Taliban

US President Joe Biden’s administration may revise the peace agreement made by previous US leader Donald Trump with the Afghan Taliban group

This was said in a statement by US Security Council spokeswoman Emily Horn.

In doing so, she said Washington would support the peace process with “vigorous regional diplomatic efforts” to help the parties reach a conflict resolution and ceasefire in the region.

In February 2020 in Qatar, US and Taliban representatives signed the first peace agreement in more than 18 years of conflict in the Islamic republic, which provides for the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan in 14 months and the start of an inter-Afghan dialogue following a prisoner exchange.
