Expert tells what U.S. entry into Normandy format will lead to

It will take at least six months to understand what kind of policy the Biden administration has in store for Ukraine.

As previously reported by News Front, 78-year-old Joe Biden took office as President of the United States on January 20. In Ukraine, they believe that the transition of the White House under the control of the Democrats means active support for Kiev. The government even returned to the discussion of how to involve the United States in the Normandy format for the settlement of the Donbass conflict. Now Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine are working on this site.

It is also expected that Washington will send its representatives to work within the framework of the so-called Crimean platform, which the Kiev authorities are working on.

As noted by the international expert Vladislav Parapanov, the Ukrainian agenda facing the administration, Biden is really extensive. However, such a spread becomes a problem, so you should not expect a quick reaction from the United States on all fronts. At best, by the end of the summer of 2021, it will become clear what kind of policy Biden will pursue in the Ukrainian direction, the analyst believes.

At the same time, Faraponov doubts the possibility of expanding the Normandy format at the expense of the United States. According to him, such a prospect is unlikely to contribute to the settlement of the conflict. Moreover, Washington itself is not interested in working on this site.

“We are accustomed to believe that the Democrats claim to be a kind of world gendarme. I believe that the chances of real involvement of the United States in the Normandy format are small, because they simply do not need it”, – the expert explains.

He also recalled that it will not be possible to turn the Normandy Four into the five without the consent of the current participants in the format, including Russia, with which the United States has obvious differences.

“I believe that in the end, this will only lead to an increase in contradictions and will not allow us to resolve the situation”, – the analyst stated.
