Americans will trust their politicians and media less and less

U.S. citizens believe the leadership of the United States and journalists are deliberately misleading the public, and the country is on the brink of civil war

Business Insider has reported citing the results of a post-election poll conducted by Edelman, the world’s largest public relations firm, that more than half of the 33,000 Americans surveyed do not trust the American media.

“Edelman’s 2021 Trust Barometer shows that trust in government and the media is at an all-time low in the United States. As the publication notes, the pandemic as well as growing political tensions between supporters of Donald Trump and Joe Biden have made people doubt their trust in the authorities. According to the survey, due to the overabundance of contradictory information on the Internet, people find it difficult to distinguish between truth and fiction, especially on issues such as politics or vaccination against Covid-19”, –  EADaily writes.

As the article notes, distrust of the government and the media has become more evident in 2020 than ever before. The Edelman poll showed that 75% of Americans do not properly check information on the internet, making the world wide web a kind of “echo chamber” that only reinforces a person’s opinion without confronting them with other perceptions or information.
