US House of Representatives voted to impeach Trump

After consultations in the US House of Representatives, Congressmen held a procedural vote to impeach US President Donald Trump. The final vote will take place in the next few hours.

Voting took place at 11:30 local time [20:30 Moscow time]. Democrats voted 221 to remove Trump, 205 Republicans voted against, and 7 more congressmen abstained from voting.

If Democrats do manage to get the impeachment bill through the House of Representatives, it will take two-thirds of the Senate vote to remove Trump. That is, at least 17 Republicans must oppose the president. Presumably, the Senate vote will take place on Friday, January 15th.

As previously reported by News Front, Republicans are currently discussing in the Senate the issue of a trial in connection with a possible impeachment of Trump.
