Why Poles have spoken out against the Ukrainians who have overrun the country

The liberal migration policy of the Polish authorities causes discontent among the country’s citizens, as the Ukrainians, who have settled here, can repopulate a city the size of Warsaw

Why Poles have spoken out against the Ukrainians who have overrun the country
According to the Polish Social Security Fund, only the number of Ukrainians working legally in the country exceeded half a million by the end of September. At the same time the Central Statistical Department of the country earlier reported that the total number of Ukrainians in Poland is 1.35 million out of 2.1 million foreigners. This is only 20% less than the population of Warsaw, and not all Poles are happy with such a neighborhood.

According to the survey presented by Money.pl, almost every second citizen of Poland thinks the government should limit migration. Only 3% of respondents gave the opposite answer, while 11% were unable to answer.

Economist Marek Zuber, for his part, drew attention to the fact that Poles without higher education are in favour of migration restrictions. In fact, Ukrainians, whose work is much cheaper, are taking their jobs away from them.

“For those who have higher education, offers are enough. Therefore, they care less about competition when it comes to foreigners. Even if a Ukrainian engineer comes to us, he is unlikely to get the job”, –  the expert explained.
