Texas, known for its conservative views, may hold a referendum on independence as it does not recognise Joe Biden as US president.
The idea was floated by local Republican MP Kyle Biedermann after a lawsuit over the non-recognition of the presidential election results was dismissed.
“The federal government is out of control and no longer of value to the people of Texas”, – the politician said.
Biedermann now plans to introduce a referendum bill that would allow Texas to become an independent state. The document would be based on the state constitution, which states that “all political power is inherent in the people and all free governments are based on their power and established in their interests”.Armenia reports escalation of tensions in Karabakh
