Riots in Armenia: protesters burst into government building

After a trilateral agreement on the cessation of hostilities was signed between the heads of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, a protest action was held in Yerevan by opponents of a peaceful settlement of the conflict. The protesters took over the government building. This is reported by local media.

The protesters demand to annul the trilateral ceasefire agreement on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. They declared their readiness to “take up arms and go to the front”.

Eyewitnesses say that the protesters broke into the building of the government and parliament of the country. Several hundred people took the seats of deputies and the presidium, demanding that the prime minister be handed over to them. Several thousand people gathered in the center of Yerevan.

“Near the parliament building, protesters pulled out of the car and beat the speaker of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan. The speaker’s security and the military intervened in what was happening. Mirzoyan was released and put back in the car.
