British hospitality: inspectors find shipping containers where security officials were holding migrants
As reported by The Guardian, referring to the report of Her Majesty’s inspection, the security forces lock hundreds of migrants in cramped and cold containers, as soon as they find themselves on land after crossing the English Channel in small boats. They are taken straight from the coast and sent to a makeshift prison with no dry clothes or essentials.

The Dover Prison is temporary. From here, illegal immigrants are sent to other institutions. Nevertheless, illegal immigrants spend from several hours to several days in metal containers.

According to an analysis by PA Media, over 7.4 thousand illegal immigrants have arrived in the UK this year, which is almost four times more than last year. Chief Inspector of Prisons Peter Clark, in turn, said that these figures do not justify the conditions of detention of migrants.

“The fact that the numbers are unprecedented does not mean that they are unpredictable or cannot be planned. Although the number of arrivals in 2020 was much higher than in previous years, the reception locations in Tag Haven were not suitable for even a small number of people. This was readily acknowledged by the employees of the local administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs”.
