Violators of order detained at another rally in Minsk

The capital’s law enforcement officers detained the protesters organized by the pro-Western opposition to destabilize the situation in Belarus.

Another protest began on Saturday, October 17, at the Minsk State Linguistic University. The organizers attracted students to the protest. The participants moved towards Kozlova Street. When they went to Independence Avenue, law enforcement officers dispersed the protesters. Particularly violent ones were detained.

“Yes, there are arrests”, – the agency quotes the official spokesman for the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Roman Lashkevich.

According to him, the arrests were carried out within the framework of an administrative case.

As News Front reported earlier, presidential elections were held in Belarus on August 9. Then Aleksandr Lukashenko won the victory, but Western countries, for which the Belarusian leader had long been an obstacle, did not put up with the voting results.

The headquarters of Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, the leader of the pro-Western opposition, said they were ready for long-term protests aimed at overthrowing the government. The former housewife, who ran for president of the country, refuses to admit defeat. Claiming without any evidence that the vote was rigged, Tikhanovskaya calls herself a “leader” of the Belarusian people, while hiding in Lithuania.
