Russian Ambassador: US rejected proposal to extend START III without any serious analysis

Anatoly Antonov said that the United States is deliberately trying to distort the reasons for the refusal of the Russian Federation from Washington’s proposals on the issue of extending the Treaty on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (START, unofficially called START-3).

According to TASS, on the air of the Big Game program on Channel One, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that Washington, without any serious analysis, rejected the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin to extend for a year the Treaty on Measures to Further Reduce and Limit Strategic Offensive weapons (START, unofficial name – START-3).

“Yesterday, two explosions took place in the information space of the United States of America. The first explosion was when the world heard that Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin was taking another step forward to meet the Americans, trying to save arms control. And the second explosion – when the Americans unambiguously, without any, in my opinion, serious analysis, simply took and rejected the proposal of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin”, – the ambassador said.

“It’s sad that the United States is trying to turn everything upside down, trying to show everything this way, as if Russia wants to destroy everything”.
