In the Netherlands, a patient died as a result of repeated infection with coronavirus

According to Oxford University Press, the death of a patient who had been reinfected with coronavirus was the first in the world to be recorded, citing BNO News. This happened in the Netherlands, and the deceased was an 89-year-old woman who had been treated for cancer.

“The woman first became infected with coronavirus back in July. She was hospitalised. After 5 days, the symptoms of Covid-19 disappeared and the patient was discharged. Two months later, the woman returned to the hospital. She had a cough, a fever and the coronavirus test showed a positive result again. On the eighth day the patient’s condition worsened and two weeks later she died”, –  the report says.

It is noted that in October, the number of new cases of coronavirus infections in the Netherlands that were detected within 24 hours is increasing. For example, on 12 October, the coronavirus test was positive for 6854 Dutch residents, with almost 500 more patients than the day before.

At the same time, according to The Guardian, the first case of coronavirus reinfection was also detected in the USA. The case is from a 25-year-old resident of Nevada, without any known immune disorders or related diseases.
This is the fifth evidence of reinfection worldwide, and researchers say that at least four other cases have been confirmed in Belgium, Ecuador, the Netherlands and Hong Kong.

The re-infection of an American patient is more severe than the first one, and has required hospitalisation with a ventilator connected to a ventilator.
