There are three factors that can provoke the breakdown of the Armenian-Azerbaijani truce achieved with the mediation of Russia.
Tatul Hakobyan, an expert on the Karabakh conflict, the author of the book The Karabakh Diary, told about this in a commentary to the EADaily edition.
According to him, first of all, the question of the ability of the authorities of Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan to resist the militarist sentiments that manifested themselves against the background of the escalation of tension remains open. The second factor directly concerns the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who is to “sell” the ceasefire to the people as an achievement. The third factor is external influence both from Russia, which insists on a peaceful settlement of the conflict, and from Turkey, which provokes the war.
“It is not excluded that the Moscow declaration on a humanitarian truce could become the beginning of the countdown of the next military clash”, – Hakobyan says.
In this regard, he recalled that in the history of the Karabakh conflict there were already many ceasefires, which were eventually violated. The Russian Foreign Ministry was outraged by the statement of Heiko Maas about the absurdity of the Russian Federation’s claims against Germany and the OPCW
