Tehran issues a statement on Nagorno-Karabakh

Iran is ready to propose a plan to resolve the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to Eurasia Daily, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Said Khatibzade said that official Tehran proposes a plan to resolve the armed confrontation between Baku and Yerevan in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and is ready to make every effort to end hostilities.

“The plan to end the conflict, prepared by Iran, provides for the preservation of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, the withdrawal of military forces from the combat zones and the start of negotiations”, –  Khatibzade said.

He also stressed that Azerbaijan and Armenia must ensure that the military actions of the two states do not touch the territories of Iran and do not violate the principle of non-aggression against civilians.
