World leaders on Friday wish the recovery of 74-year-old US President Donald Trump, who contracted the virus with his wife Melanie Coronavirus a month before the presidential election.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a telegram to Trump, expressed confidence that his inherent “vitality, pep and optimism will help him cope with the dangerous virus”.

He also addressed the US President and the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Boris Johnson, who himself suffered from the disease in April.

His wishes for a speedy recovery were also expressed by Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, President Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte of Italy, Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands, and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

The head of the European Council, Charles Michelle, called the fight against the coronavirus a battle in which “everyone continues to fight every day” on Twitter, while Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Sulberg called the Trump infection “an example of how infectious this virus is. “That’s why we have imposed restrictions,” she told the Verdens Gang newspaper.
