China conducts military exercises near the Strait of Taiwan. As Reuters reports, during the briefing on Friday the official representative of the Ministry of Defence of China Zhen Guoqiang reported.

According to the representative of the Ministry, the exercise was a response to the current situation in the Strait, and their goal is to ensure the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state.

On Thursday, Taiwan’s military department launched a page on its website where it began to openly publish information about the activities of the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) near the island’s declared air defense identification zone in the Strait of Taiwan.

Taiwan has been governed by its own administration since 1949, but according to Beijing’s official position, supported by most countries, including Russia, is considered an integral part of Chinese territory. Earlier this month, the Taiwanese military already recorded twice that PLAAF fighter groups were approaching the air defense zone over the Strait of Taiwan and were involved in the exercise.
