Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus commented on provocations at protest actions

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus reported on provocations during unauthorized protests against the incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko, which took place in the country on September 6.

As told in the department, the largest action was organized in the capital. In order to ensure security, the police were transferred to heavy duty, in addition, special equipment of the police and the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was additionally involved. Some of the protesters were detained.

“Yesterday, on September 6, 42 protest actions were recorded in various settlements of the republic… Near the Palace of Independence, law enforcement officers stopped a convoy, as a result, some of the people headed towards Independence Avenue. The rest began to put various inscriptions on special vehicles, provoke conflicts with the police”, – said in the message of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Telegram channel.

Strikes and protest actions engulfed Belarus on August 9 immediately after the presidential elections, which were won by the incumbent head of state Alexander Lukashenko – according to the CEC, he gained 80.1% of the vote. His rival, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, according to official data, took second place with 10.1%.
