Macron: The EU wouldn’t want Belarus to have a repeat of the Ukrainian scenario

French President Emmanuelle Macron believes that Belarus should independently organize a dialogue between the government, opposition and civil society. This was stated by French President Emmanuelle Macron after talks with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.

“In Belarus, a dialogue between the authorities, opposition and civil society is necessary. We want the Belarusians to be able to organize this dialogue themselves, but the EU is ready to accompany this process if Belarus agrees to its mediation”, –  he said.

According to Macron, the European Union would not like the Ukrainian scenario to repeat itself in Belarus. The EU is interested in democratic transition in the republic, dialogue and organization of elections, he said.
