Iran tests new missiles with clear message to Washington

Amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, the Iranian military unveiled a new ballistic missile.

The weapon was named “Haj Qasem” in honor of Qasem Soleimani, who served as the commander of the elite Iranian division of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps “Al-Quds”. As you know, he was killed as a result of a targeted strike by the US Armed Forces.

The new ground-to-ground ballistic missile was tested on Thursday, August 20. Also in Iran, a new cruise missile “Abu Mahdi” was demonstrated. It was named in memory of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis – the military leader died along with Suleimani.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called the news of the testing of new military developments important. He stressed that the enemy must be contained “both on land and at sea”.
