Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the publication of the New York Times about the “conspiracy” of Russia with the Taliban, expressed regret that once the largest and most respected world media are not ashamed of such a canard.
The New York Times, citing anonymous U.S. intelligence officials, published an article alleging that Russian military intelligence allegedly offered rewards to Taliban-related militants for attacks on American soldiers in Afghanistan. No evidence was provided. The Russian Embassy in the United States demanded that the country’s authorities respond adequately to the threats that come to the diplomats due to false news about Russia and Afghanistan. The Russian Foreign Ministry called the media reports fake. The US President Donald Trump called the article “ordering”.
“First – these allegations are a lie. Second – if in the United States of America special services continue to be accountable to the president, then I propose to focus on the relevant statements of President Donald Trump, who has already evaluated these publications. And the third – we can repeatedly express our regret that once the largest world media, respected world media, high-class world media in recent years more and more often do not hesitate to publish absolute canards, which, of course, does not contribute to the continuation of their high reputation and prestige”, – Peskov commented on such statements by the media.
When asked by journalists about whether Donald Trump discussed this topic in any way with Vladimir Putin during this year, Peskov answered in the negative.Libya appreciates Russia’s efforts to resolve the conflict
