The US administration proposed on its terms to transfer Crimea to the disposal of Russia.
This was written by a former adviser to the President of the United States on national security issues, John Bolton, in his acclaimed book, “The Room Where It Happened: Memories of the White House”.
According to the ex-official, in 2014, Democratic President Barack Obama proposed a deal to Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The White House was ready to resolve the situation with Crimea if Moscow did not interfere with further US work in the Ukrainian direction.
“He [Putin] said that Obama clearly told him in 2014 that if Russia does not go beyond the annexation of Crimea, the confrontation over Ukraine can be resolved. However, something made Obama change his mind”, – Bolton writes.
