The U.S. has introduced new sanctions against Bashar al-Assad

As TASS reports, on Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo said that Washington imposes new sanctions on Syria within the framework of the “Caesar’s law”, under which SAR President Bashar Assad and his wife Asma fall.

“Today, the Ministry of Finance and the State Department are announcing 39 sanctions decisions [against individuals and entities] under Caesar’s “law” and Executive Order 13894 as the beginning of a campaign of economic and political pressure on Assad to deprive him of his income and support in waging war and committing atrocities against the Syrian people”, –  the statement said.

The text also notes that sanctions are being imposed on Bashar Assad and his wife Asma, as well as one of Syria’s largest entrepreneurs, Mohammad Hamshaw.
