The Los Angeles (California) Police Department is investigating more than 50 complaints of violations allegedly committed by law enforcement officials during protests caused by the death in Minneapolis (Minnesota) of African-American George Floyd. A statement to that effect from the police department is quoted by ABC television on Thursday.

“The [city police] department has allocated 40 investigators for these tasks, and we will thoroughly deal with each of the complaints received, all police officers will be held responsible for their actions”, –  the statement said. – So far, 56 complaints have been investigated, 28 of them involving the use of force [by law enforcement officials]. CNN reported Wednesday that LAPD management has reassigned seven officers to the office for “improper actions during protests.

Protests began in late May in a number of U.S. states, during which there were clashes with police, numerous cases of looting and vandalism.
