Today, Sunday, June 7, NATO’s BALTOPS large-scale naval exercises begin in Europe. They will take place in the southwest of the Baltic Sea near the coast of Germany and Denmark.

“BALTOPS-2020 are large multinational practical military exercises involving ships, submarines and aircraft of NATO member countries and other invited participants. From June 7 to 17 they will be held in the Baltic Sea in the area of ​​the Kiel Bay and the Danish Straits, including Kattegat, ”warned the sailors.

In addition, the teachings will also hook on the Maklenburg Bay in eastern Germany.

But the most curious thing is different: Western observers predict operations during the exercises near the Russian sea borders in the Baltic. It is about the Kaliningrad region.

At least 29 ships, 29 aircraft and helicopters will take part in the maneuvers. They have already arrived in the Baltic Sea. Two operational alliance naval groups that entered the Baltic will also be involved – the First Permanent Naval Group of NATO and the First Permanent Mine-Sweeping Group of NATO.
About 3 thousand military men from 17 NATO member countries will participate in the exercises: Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Great Britain and the USA, and also two partners of the alliance: Sweden and Finland.
