Kiev does not want Donbass defenders to respond to shelling and asks Berlin for help

The corresponding statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba on the air of the TV channel “Ukraine”.

The official stressed that such a position was even outlined to his German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas. According to Kuleba, for more than an hour he asked his German colleague to help to exclude the possibility of returning fire from the defenders of the republics of Donbass.

“We discussed the possibility of ceasing fire not on our side, but on the other side”, – the Ukrainian minister said. “We passed on to the German side a concrete proposal on how we see the ceasefire mechanism”.

As News Front previously reported, shelling of the people’s republics of Donbass by Ukrainian punishers continues, although their number has declined recently. The reason for this was the recent decision of Donetsk and Lugansk to introduce high alert. It did not last long, but during this period the People’s Police of the two republics actively suppressed the aggression of punishers by return fire, destroying the positions of the Ukrainian occupation forces, from which shelling of peaceful cities was carried out.
