South Korean intelligence has denied reports of Kim Jong-un’s alleged operation

It noted that since the beginning of this year, the number of public appearances by the DPRK leader has been the lowest in the history of observations, which may be related to the pandemic.

Intelligence in the Republic of Korea rejects the possibility that DPRK leader Kim Jong-un could undergo heart surgery. According to the Yonhap agency, a representative of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) said this in Seoul on Wednesday.

“Reports about Kim Jong-un’s health problems are absurd. There is no indication that he underwent surgery”, –  the agency quoted him as saying.

The NIS representative also said that since the beginning of this year, the number of public appearances of the DPRK leader was the lowest in the history of observations, probably due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, the North Korean government, according to the representative of intelligence, is working in the normal, completely normal mode.

On April 11, Kim Jong-un held a meeting of the Labor Party of Korea (KPC) Politburo on domestic policy issues, after which until May 1 there were no reports in the DPRK’s media of his appearance at official events. The absence of the Chairman of the State Council of the DPRK at the annual session of the Supreme People’s Assembly (SPC) on April 12 and the ceremony on the occasion of the 108th anniversary of Kim Il-sung’s birth on April 15 led to allegations in the Western and South Korean media about Kim Jong-un’s health problems and his alleged surgery.
