Despite the prohibitions of any public events, pro-Western forces in Hong Kong sent activists to demonstrations in order to provoke police in retaliation.

As noted in the media, the Hong Kong authorities sent 3,000 security officials to the streets in advance to prevent illegal actions.

The radicals, in turn, carried out a series of provocations. They gathered in public places, in particular in shopping centers, held rallies and shouted anti-government slogans
