Germany is trying to get the right from the U.S. to buy Russian gas

Berlin is actively working to reduce the negative impact of US punitive measures on German companies involved in the Nord Stream-2 project.

According to German Economics Minister Peter Altmaier, right now German representatives are trying to get Washington to revise sanctions.

“We are negotiating with our partners in the United States, we are also discussing the situation with Russia to reduce the negative impact of sanctions on German companies”, –  the official said.

Once again, he stressed that Berlin sees Nord Stream 2 exclusively as an economic project that will provide Europe with Russian gas at a favorable price.

As News Front reported earlier, the US Congress dragged the sanctions along with the military budget. The decision of the U.S. legislators implies punitive measures against all companies that will participate in the construction of the gas pipeline.
