Representatives of Turkey told Russia that Ankara intends to achieve the return of the Syrian army to its former positions in the Idlib de-escalation zone.
Such a statement on Tuesday, February 18, was made by a representative of the ruling Justice and Development Party, Omer Celik.
“Turkey informed Russia that it had completed preparations to get the Syrian regime to withdraw forces to their previous positions,” the politician said.
He emphasized that it was about military training. According to him, Turkish representatives explained to Moscow “the need to withdraw the forces of the Bashar al-Assad regime outside the de-escalation zone.”
