Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
This is stated in a message published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
It is noted that the parties discussed the situation in Syria “with emphasis on the need to ensure stability and security” on the ground “on the basis of respect for the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the SAR and the fight against terrorists recognized as such by the UN Security Council”.
They also considered the promotion of the political process in accordance with the provisions of UNSCR 2254, including the continuation of the work of the constitutional committee.
