New Prime Minister appointed in Iraq

The newly appointed prime minister will lead the government until early elections.

Today, February 1, Iraqi President Barham Salih signed a decree appointing a new prime minister.

The new head of the Iraqi government before the early elections will be Mohammed Tawfik Allawi. The new prime minister has a month to form a government.

After his appointment, Allawi said he was ready to resign if political forces try to force candidates for him in the ministry.
