In Paris, the Eiffel Tower was closed to the public because of the strike

One of the main attractions of Paris will be closed to visitors on Friday because of the national strike against the proposed pension reform.

“Because of the national strike, I am closed today”,-  according to the official Twitter account of the Eiffel Tower.

However, the area around the tower will be available to visitors for free.

On 5 December 2019, France went on a nationwide permanent strike against the government’s pension reform, which could result in the loss of a number of privileges and special retirement regimes for certain categories of French workers, including transport workers.

The strike has significantly disrupted public transport throughout the country – metro, rail and train. The draft law on pension reform will be submitted to the French Parliament in February.
