US President Donald Trump invited British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to visit the White House earlier this year, the Sunday Times reported citing sources.
According to the publication, Johnson was invited to visit the U.S. on an official visit accompanied by his friend Kerry Simonds to discuss trade relations between the two countries after Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union.
Sources on Downing Street report that the parties have not yet discussed the exact dates of the visit. However, a source close to the White House said that “options were discussed in mid-January. “It’s clear that both sides want this to happen somewhere in early 2020”, – says the newspaper.
The newspaper adds that the UK does not want Johnson to be dragged into the scandal around Trump’s impeachment, and that we should not expect the prime minister’s visit to the US before February.Trump confirms trade agreement with China be signed soon
