EU Permanent Representatives agreed on a six-month extension of individual sanctions against individuals and organizations accused of “undermining the sovereignty of Ukraine,” – a source in EU structures announced.

The interlocutor of the agency said that the draft decision was agreed without discussion, the document will be adopted in writing. Then it must be approved by the EU Council.
Individual sanctions
In March 2014, the European Union introduced individual sanctions against people who are accused of undermining the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Restrictive measures are renewed every six months. They include a freeze on assets and a ban on entry. The sanctions list included Russian political and public figures, legal entities, as well as Ukrainian citizens, leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, and representatives of the militia. Now the list includes 154 people and 44 organizations.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the basis for unilateral sanctions were “unproven” and “absurd” charges. Moscow, in response, compiled a list of representatives of EU member states and institutions that are banned from entering Russia. It is periodically expanded on a parity basis.
