The chairmanship in the UN Security Council passes to Russia from September 1. Russia will take the chair for a month, replacing Poland.

On September 3, after the official adoption of the program of chairmanship by members of the Security Council, Russian envoy Vasily Nebenzya will present it to the media.

The Russian chairmanship in time coincided with the opening of the 74th session of the General Assembly and a week of high level General Assembly.

The head of the Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov is expected not only to lead the Russian delegation, but also to participate in some meetings of the UN Security Council.
