Relations between the US and China leave much to be desired, and with Washington’s plans to deploy missiles in East Asia, the crisis could reach a new dangerous level says senior researcher at the Institute of the USA and Canada, Vladimir Vasiliev, commenting on the statement by Economics Advisor to the President of the United States, John Bolton, that Washington is allegedly trying to secure the allies in the form of South Korea and Japan.

According to the expert, such Washington’s rhetoric is extremely ill-conceived, but it clearly demonstrates that the United States is already beginning to work “on two fronts,” which pushes the world toward a new Cold War, which was supposed to be prevented by the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate and Shorter-Range Missiles.

“The American administration is increasingly interested in East Asia, where China is the main competitor to the United States, which claims to be a global superpower,” Vasiliev said.

To date, the United States is developing a completely new concept, increasingly realizing that the Asia-Pacific region is the “main source of headache.” The expert recalled that Washington did not succeed in the denuclearization of the DPRK and the trade war with China.

“In fact, the confrontation with Beijing is much more important for Washington than anti-Russian sanctions. The American administration realized that it would not be possible to exert influence on the PRC by economic pressure, therefore they are launching military means, ”Vasilyev stated.
