Police intervened and clashed with protesters who marched on the streets of Hong Kong on Sunday, on the eighth consecutive weekend of protests against a legislative amendment which would allow the city to extradite residents to China for trials.

Many protesters carried umbrellas as a show of support for Hong Kong’s pro-democracy Umbrella Movement. Some posted sticky notes answering the question ‘why we are here’ on the so-called ‘Democracy Wall’ in Hong Kong’s governmental district.

Although the bill was suspended, protesters continue taking to the streets to demand the full withdrawal of the bill and the resignation of Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam.
