The two new short-range ballistic missiles that were test-fired on Thursday by the North Korean government were a “warning” to South Korea, according to state media Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

Photos show North Korean leader Kim Jong-un observing the missile launch with binoculars from an undisclosed location.

The missiles were reportedly launched toward the East Sea, in a move that was intended to serve as a warning to South Korea to stop importing high-tech offensive weapons and end joint military drills.

According to South Korean officials, this is the first missile test since talks of denuclearisation between Kim and US President Donald Trump.
