A group of protesters gathered in central Berlin, Monday, to protest against the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the German capital.
The protest was called for under the slogan “Netanyahu Not Welcome – Stop the War, Freedom for Palestine.”
Demonstrators gathered in front of the German Chancellery holding banners in support of Palestine and against the Israeli prime minister. They also chanted slogans against Netanyahu
“Since 1996, Benjamin Netanyahu has been responsible for thousands of murders, including those of women and children,” claimed activist Said Dudan.
“We are demanding that a war criminal is not treated as an honoured guest, while people are struggling for justice and are penned inside and treated as a threat to freedom and security,” said activist Charlotte Kates.
Israel’s prime minister will meet with Merkel and Macron for the first time since US President Donald Trump decided to withdraw from the nuclear deal with Iran, a move opposed by Germany, France and the UK.
Netanyahu is expected to later travel to Paris to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron before heading to Britain where he will hold talks with Prime Minister Theresa May.
