89-year-old Ursula Haverbek was arrested on charges of Holocaust denial. She was found and arrested on Monday, May 7, 2018, in the town of Vlotho in North Rhine-Westphalia, as reported by the police in Herford and the Verden prosecutor’s office in Lower Saxony. The warrant for her arrest was issued before it was transferred to an appropriate institution.
The Verdun District Court sentenced Haverbeck last August in eight case with imprisonment for a period of two years without parole. Now the decision on punishment has come into force. According to Prosecutor Verden, Haverbek did not appear in prison on time.
On Sunday, May 6, 2013, after her failure to appear, the authorities issued an arrest warrant for the purpose of executing criminal punishment. At the same time, the prosecutor’s office stressed that the official medical report confirms the state of health of Haverbek as permitting detention. Haverbeck is a symbolic figure of the right-wing extremist scene as she has repeatedly denied the Holocaust.
