US-led coalition is not sure about Daesh leader’s death

A spokesman for the US-led coalition against Daesh has said that they did not ascertain claims about the death of Daesh leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi. “There is no conclusive evidence to believe that Baghdadi was 100 per cent killed,” said Colonel Ryan Dillon, “so we suggest that he is still alive and we will continue searching for him.”

Dillon added that the coalition would not only continue to look for Al-Baghdadi, but also for other senior Daesh leaders.

Russia, meanwhile, announced that Al-Baghdadi suffered serious injuries in a Russian air strike carried out in May last year on the Syrian city of Al-Raqqa. According to Iraqi intelligence, the Daesh leader died or was close to death in a border area between Iraq and Syria. The US, however, always backs the hypotheses which claim that he is still alive.
