Accordign to the statement, a helicopter was damaged and security forces “dealt with the source of fire”, without elaborating.
The incident took place during a visit of the interior and defense ministers of Egypt to the area. Neither minister was in the attack.
The attack was most likely conducted by the local ISIS branch operating in the region. Egypt is struggling to deal with the militancy in North Sinai, but has still not been able to purge the terrorism in the region.Nikki Haley: ‘US will be taking names’ during UN Jerusalem vote
