On Monday, a protest statement appeared on the main page of the Patagonia website: “The President stole your land”.
As explained further, the reduction of protected areas is the largest in the history of the United States. Patagonia calls such actions illegal and encourages Americans to take retaliatory measures. According to the Californian publications, it can also include a lawsuit against Trump.
On Monday, the White House issued an official statement according to which two national monuments in Utah – reserves “Bear Ears” and “Grand Staircase-Escalante” will lose a large part of the area. The territory of the first will be reduced by 85%, to 817 square km, and will be divided into two parts, the second – almost twice, to less than 4,1 thousand square km.
Both reserves were created by the Presidents-Democrats – “Grand Staircase-Escalante” by Bill Clinton in 1996, “Bear Ears” by Barack Obama in 2016.
Patagonia is headquartered in California. The company produces clothes, footwear, equipment and equipment for various sports, including extreme sports, as well for the urban conditions.
