A working illustration of the proverb saying that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
On Friday, Denmark’s Minister for Immigration, Integration and Housing Inger Stojberg visited the country’s Sjaelsmark deportation center for rejected asylum seekers.
She was accompanied by DR, a TV network, which was supposed to film her for its 21 Sondag current affairs program.
The minister visited only one family who were accommodated in the facility, to find out the conditions for children living there, according to The Local.
However when she went outside, the politician was surrounded by a crowd of angry refugees who apparently tried to prevent the official from fleeing their facility. According to journalist Martin Torpe, who was present on the scene, there were around 40 people and the Minister needed the assistance of security guards to be able to escape.
When she finally got into her car, one woman, who was clearly upset, threw herself on to the hood of the vehicle. The car however kept on moving and managed to dislodge the woman, who “may have been hit a little,” the journalist commented.
The incident was captured on camera by the broadcaster and was later posted on YouTube.
No serious injuries have been reported.
