US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) advanced north-east along the Euphrates river, securing the industrial area of Deir ez-Zor, as they continued their offensive against the so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), Monday.
Kindal Doghan, spokesperson of Deir ez-Zor Military Council (Arabic): “[I am] Kindal Doghan from the Deir ez-Zor Military Council. We are now advancing on three accesses. This is the first access heading to Deir ez-Zor; the second one is Abu Khashab, and the third one is after Abu Khashab. Our campaign is heading towards Deir ez-Zor; now we passed Deir ez-Zor, now we are trying to separate Deir ez-Zor from the Shamyya area in cooperation with the Coalition and the YPG [People’s Protection Units] forces.”
SDF soldier(Arabic): “These grain silos are ours, this area here, this is the industrial zone; here the forces of the two accesses met, the access was [cut].”
