Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Muscovites on the occasion of Moscow’s City Day during a ceremony marking the 870th anniversary of the Russian capital’s founding.

Putin praised Moscow’s authorities for “actively and firmly” carrying out major reconstruction works this summer. “

[The work] is being conducted according to Moscow’s status as one of the biggest megapolises in the world, and in order to increase the level of comfort and quality of life for Moscovites,” underlined Putin. Moscow’s City Day is traditionally celebrated in Russia’s capital on the first or second weekend of September.
