US-led coalition airstrikes against the Daesh (banned in Russia) destroyed the terror group’s engineering equipment near the Syrian city of Raqqa on Tuesday, Operation Inherent Resolve said in a press release.
“Near Raqqah, 22 strikes engaged 15 ISIS [Islamic State] tactical units and destroyed 20 fighting positions, an IED [improvised explosive device], ISIS engineering equipment, a logistics node and a command and control node,” the release stated on Wednesday.
The coalition conducted three strikes near Deir ez-Zor that destroyed three Daesh supply routes, according to the release.
In Iraq, six coalition strikes engaged Daesh tactical units and destroyed an IED factory and other Daesh targets near Al Huwayjah, Bayji, Kisik, Rawah and Tal Afar, the coalition said.
The US-led coalition of more than 70 members is conducting airstrikes, ground-based and rocket-propelled artillery fire against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. The strikes in Iraq are conducted in support of the Iraqi government, but those in Syria are not authorized by the UN Security Council or the government of President Bashar Assad.
