Up to 10,000 farmers marched through the Mexican capital to voice their dismay with the ongoing North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) talks between Mexico and the US, Monday.

The protesters argue that the trilateral trade deal, alongside Canada, damages the farmers’ livelihoods and that they have been shown a lack of support from the Mexican government.

Reports suggest around 2 million Mexican farmers have lost land under the current NAFTA terms and US-imported produce makes up nearly half of all of Mexico’s food.
