Finland’s police said that the recent incident in which a car hit a crowd in the center of Helsinki was not a terrorist attack, local media reported on Saturday.
On Friday, one person was killed and four more injured when a car hit pedestrians in Helsinki. The perpetrator, who was detained on site, reportedly appeared to have been intoxicated.
According to the Yle broadcaster, citing the police, the suspect is a 53-year-old male. He told the police that he was driving at high speed and did not care if anyone got hit, the broadcaster added.
The police also confirmed that the driver drank alcohol before taking the wheel, the media said.
